An overnight stay was planned in Kagoshima, but due to typhoon ‘Roke’ the ferry to Yakushima was cancelled and I had an extra day of relaxation and shopping.
With one day short on Yakushima and a little mishap with my rental car, I still had enough time to explore most of the beautiful mountains, forests and coast lines. Most of the Japanese tourists were here for hiking, looking at their serious mountain gear they had either rented or brought along!
